Unique Garden Walkway
If you’re looking to save a little money and yet make a bold statement in your yard consider this unique garden walkway.
It certainly wasn’t big and it was very overgrown when we started, but we turned it in to a chic and cozy retreat complete with a gas fire pit, overhead lighting for additional ambiance, lush greens and flowers, and this beautiful unique garden walkway. Not only did we save a ton of money by using the old brick that had originally been a part of the path (if you could call it that when we bought it) but the contrast of the flagstone and the brick really tied together the old and the new.
We purchased the slabs of flagstone from Home Depot. We dug to the bottom of the piles to find the largest slabs we could find since you pay per piece knowing that if we wanted them smaller we could always break them ourselves. And as I mentioned, we just had to dig up the old brick from around the yard so that was free.
Besides the combination of a brick walkway and a flagstone walkway what was so fabulous about this unique garden walkway was that it was so easy. Literally 3 steps.
Step 1: Grate your space. If you aren’t planning on adding bark mulch then consider digging down a bit so you can make the flagstone and brick flush with the ground.
Step 2: Lay your pieces. Walk out the distance you want between each set. If you have a long stride, have a friend with a shorter stride give it a try too and meet somewhere in the middle. Once you have your distancing down mess around with the patterns of your brick.
Step 3: Fill in with bark mulch.
Just a note of caution…the large slabs of flagstone can be heavy so take extra precaution and care. As always, be safe and have fun!
